POLICY PRIORITIES

Biodiesel Manufacturers Association of India (BMAI) represents the Biodiesel Industry in India and its members on various important regulatory and policy related matters at Central and State level.

BMAI has taken undertaken various agendas with the relevant Ministries to address the challenges met by manufacturers and various stakeholders. This is to ensure growth and sustainability of the Biodiesel Industry in India. Few of our many initiatives include:

BIODIESEL NODAL BODY

BMAI has suggested creation of a Biodiesel Nodal Body which will include Member Representatives from various Ministries, Organizations and BMAI. A registration mechanism for Biodiesel Manufacturers as suggested will ensure that high quality genuine fuel is made available in the country.

CARBON

Biodiesel is a great tool to address Carbon Issues facing the world. Biodiesel has the potential to reduce emissions from first use itself. BMAI has suggested various initiatives to make Biodiesel a forerunner in India's Energy Plans to assist in Achieving India's Climate Goals of Net Zero by 2070.

FAIR TRADE & SPURIOUS FUELS

Spurious fuels are a menace, causing immense loss to Government Exchequer, hurting market of genuine fuels of Oil Marketing Companies and also hurting Biodiesel Industry.  Spurious Fuels are being sold in the country under the garb of Biodiesel. BMAI has undertaken a mission to curb the sales of spurious fuels and is working closely with State and Central Government on this aspect.

FEEDSTOCK DEVELOPMENT

BMAI has suggested initiatives for generation of feedstock within the Country, use of existing available feedstock for ensuring higher capacity utilization, attracting more investments in the Biodiesel Industry and also ensuring a long term programme for Oilseed cultivation.  BMAI has also suggested various measures for import and export of feedstock, incentives and promotion of feedstock cultivation and development amongst others.

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

Government and various Ministries have continuously supported Biodiesel Industry and BMAI has requested to further extend their support for implementation of the plans as have been presented by BMAI for the overall benefit of the Biodiesel Industry in India.

PRICING, TAXATION & CLASSIFICATION

BMAI has suggested dynamic pricing policy and is working closely with the concerned officials at the highest level to ensure that its manufacturer members get the correct pricing based on input feedstock. This will ensure that the manufacturing units, specially MSME units, will remain operational. BMAI has also made certain taxation and classification related suggestions.

BMAI MEMBER PRIORITY

BMAI is committed to ensure that its members are given topmost priority. BMAI works closely with its members and takes various suggestions before presenting its plans for implementations. Continuous communications, workshops, programmes are planned across India on a periodic basis where development and future of the industry is discussed. Working closely in groups and through various committees ensures that BMAI sets and achieves goals for common interest of its Members.
